Volunteer

To volunteer with SMART Family Literacy, e-mail smartfamilyliteracy@gmail.com to schedule a training session. Include your name and schedule availability.

Volunteers who visit schools or community centers are required to:
  • Complete and pass a criminal history background check from the school or organization, at no cost to the volunteer.
  • Complete a training session lasting 45 to 90 minutes.
  • Accompany a trainer for the first visit to a school or event.
Volunteers are needed to carry books, read stories aloud to children, and to help with simple data collection tasks and event logistics. SMART Volunteers work with one or more others. The most important job of our volunteers is to have fun with the books and the audience, so that everyone looks forward to reading again and again!
