How do I join?
Simply email Amy at Musick@SMARTFamilyLiteracy.org. Membership is free - attendance and collaboration are encouraged, but you are not obligated to attend all meetings.

How often does the group meet?
The Galveston County Child Care Directors Group meets approximately every 8 weeks and changes locations to allow for a tour of each hosting facility. Topics of interest and the next meeting date are set at the end of each meeting. While there could occasionally be more than 8 weeks between meetings, they will not be closer together. Directors' time in their center and with their own families is valuable and to be respected. Our goal is to provide support without overwhelming your calendar. This website will be updated after each meeting, so check back here for details!

How did this group start?
SMART Family Literacy employs education professionals whose goal is to help support the early childhood education community. To better serve this community, the non-profit 501(c)3 organization hosts professional development and outreach programming. We recognize that the best way to support Galveston County's early childhood professionals is to have direct input from them in building a sustainable supportive environment led by the individuals that it serves. SMART Family Literacy secures funding from a number of donors who also value these efforts. These donors include, but are not limited to, The Moody Foundation, The Kempner Fund, The Ippolito Charitable Foundation, and many others.

Are training hours provided for group events?
Director's training hours are provided when appropriate. Hours may not be available at every meeting, but are included when portions of the meeting's activities serve as training for the directors.
